Glow Plug #2

Ok. i got the torque wrench which i should use.

it is a cheap one but i think it meets standards.

before continuing, here is the photo of damaged parts…

you can buy it on the internet. yeah… but not that cheap and need to cut & split the original wiring harness.

VW CC TDI (2014), you need 10mm long plug socket for this.

and everyone highly recommend you should spray penetrating lubricant at least several hours or 1 or 2 days!

yes, i think you should. i also have to put a lot of effort into the wrench for releasing glow plugs.

here are 4 damaged glow plugs.

now, time to assemble brand new glow plugs.

before that, i again highly recommend you should clean up plug socket.

there is so much sludges and it will prevent you tightening the plugs.

how to? blow with air gun or… wipe out…

i spent so much time for this.

Because of the sludge, the plug was not fastened properly and after turning it two or three times, it would not turn any further.

if everything is ok, After about 25 to 27 turns, each about 1/4 turn, you will need a torque wrench.

Torque specification is 15Nm.

about cleaning the plug hole. i use wet tissue with thick wire. First, be careful not to damage the wet tissue.

Wrap a wet tissue around the end of the wire and push it into the plug hole. Then, turn it clockwise little by little until it engages the screw threads and is fixed. Do not turn it too tightly, but turn it moderately and then loosen it again. Repeat this process several times (5 to 7 times?). that’s how i clean up.

Glow plug #1

let’s replace glow plug!

1st. engine cover
easy, just pull 4 edges sequentially

ok, now we have to unplug the glow plug…
you might need long nose with O shaped… no, you must…
or you would face the fate i faced…

unfortunately the plug socket is damaged. it is not that critical(i hope so) but… yeah no good at all.
and there is no replacement parts! always be careful.
if you plan to change them and it is the first time then it means at lease it is 10 years past since you driving it. it is a plastic! it worn naturally.

now i’m waiting for new tool for disassembling the plug. i think i have 3/8 size but my latch is 1/2 ๐Ÿ™„

meanwhile, i sprayed wd-40(actually loctite LB8711) for easing further works.

Ok…. maybe it’s the time to…

My NAS 1515+ dead after power down.
i’m sure it is not because of the Intel Atom CPU issue as i fixed it(yeah long story and suffered so much).
maybe this is caused by small NPN transistor. power on switching – BC847LT1(SOT-23)ย

yeah we will see… later lol
i have no passion now for fixing this one.
and it consumes too much electricity, that’s the reason why i turned off and migrate my homepage to MacPro.
I totally lost all but yeah, maybe it is the time to restart.

seeking for new job, seeking for new life, seeking for new NAS.

lol

that’s life….
